Changdeok Palace (창덕궁) & Dongdaemun Market

Last weekend, we tried to get a little more sightseeing done before starting school this past week. So we visited Changdeok Palace and Dongdaemun Market.

Changdeok Palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Sight and has some of the most beautiful palace buildings. Uniquely there are also buildings done is a more humble style than typical palace buildings that were for the King’s mistress, whom we took when his wife could not give him a son…. sound familiar?

Dongdaemun Market: This market is three times the size of Namdaemun Market. It consists of giant shopping centers and street stalls. We walked into a couple of the shopping centers and it was absolutely terrifying. Inside these malls are stalls of clothing as well. The workers are incredibly aggressive. The minute you look at something, they are in your face and putting seventeen different things in front of you. It almost makes you not want to buy anything, much less even look at things. I didn’t get any pictures of this but I will try if we ever attempt it again. Unfortuntately, it was Sunday so everything wasn’t open but here are some photos of other parts of Dongdaemun Market -
